Register or Renew Your Motor Vehicle Licence

Barbados Licensing Authority (LA 33) — Last updated: March 2026

Use this service to register a motor vehicle for the first time in Barbados, or to renew an existing vehicle licence. You must be the registered owner or an authorised representative of the vehicle owner to use this service.

New registration

For vehicles being registered in Barbados for the first time.

You will need:

  • Full manufacturer's specifications
  • Vehicle photographs
  • Valid insurance certificate
  • Examiner's certificate
  • All vehicle identification details (engine & chassis numbers)

Renewal of existing licence

For vehicles already registered in Barbados with an existing licence.

You will need:

  • Current vehicle registration number
  • Updated valid insurance certificate
  • Current examiner's certificate

How to apply

Complete the online application form. You will need to visit the Barbados Licensing Authority office to finalise your registration and collect your licence disc.

What you will need to share

Have the following information ready before you start:

  • Your National Registration Number (NRN)
  • Your full name and address
  • Vehicle make, model, year of manufacture and body type
  • Engine number and/or chassis number
  • Fuel type and seating capacity
  • Insurance provider name, policy number and expiry date
  • Examiner's certificate number and date of issue
  • For renewals: your current vehicle registration number
  • For new registrations: number of cylinders, engine capacity, number of axles and hand drive

This form takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.
